GLOBAL CAREER FOUNDATIONS PROGRAM
UPCOMING DATES & PRICES
The Global Career Foundations Program (GCFP), is a four-month, full-time program that combines an innovative combination of seminars, workshops, skill-building activities, projects and an internship*. All participants will also take the foundational course in Language and Culture at UBC’s English Language Institute. The results are an educational program that balances cognitive, interpersonal and professional skills, enhances language comprehension and gives students the edge for finding favourable jobs in their home country.
*Internships are subject to the availability of host companies, the personal suitability of the student and successful completion of the academic portion. As such, internship placement is not guaranteed.
This communication and career-oriented curriculum is designed for students interested in studying abroad while gaining experience working in a North American workplace. By providing an opportunity for students to combine English language and academic study with a workplace internship students are able to better bridge the cross-cultural challenges that face today’s integrated global economy.
The GCFP program is divided into 2 terms:

Term 1 of the program emphasizes building confidence to use English communication skills and adapting interculturally to both academic and community life in North America and focuses on Language and Culture at the UBC English Language Institute, academic core lectures and North American workplace best practices workshops.
Term 2 is the internship component that takes place over eight weeks towards the end of the program. Note: Successful completion of Term I serves as a pre-requisite for participating in the internship component.
There are approximately 480 hours of structured activities in the classroom, workplace and community involved in completing the Global Career Foundations Program.
