The Global Academics Internship Program (GAIP), is a four-month, full-time program that offers an innovative combination of seminars, skill-building activities, projects assignments and an internship*. The results are an educational program that balances cognitive, interpersonal and professional skills, develops critical thinking skills and gives students the edge for finding top jobs in their home country.
*Internships are subject to the availability of host companies, the personal suitability of the student and successful completion of the academic portion. As such, internship placement is not guaranteed.
This career-oriented curriculum is designed for students interested in studying abroad while gaining experience working in a North American workplace. By providing a unique opportunity for international students to sharpen their skills both in the classroom and in the workplace it is also about building confidence in intercultural communication in academic and professional settings.
The GAIP program is divided into 2 terms:

Term 1 of the program emphasizes building confidence to use intercultural communication skills and adapting culturally to both academic and community life in North America and focuses on academic core lectures and North American workplace best practices workshops.
Term 2 is the internship component that takes place over eight weeks towards the end of the program. Note: Successful completion of Term I serves as a pre-requisite for participating in the internship component.
There are approximately 480 hours of structured activities in the classroom, workplace and community involved in completing the Global Academics Internship Program.
